The Situation
The sorority house was operating on an older daisy-chained serial access control system that no longer matched the level of convenience, security, or manageability they needed. User management had to stay simple for a high-turnover environment, and the property also needed stronger exterior visibility and more reliable wireless coverage throughout the house.
Our approach
1
Retrofitted the existing access control environment
Rather than replacing the entire system from the ground up, we modernized the existing infrastructure — upgrading it into a biometric-based system that brought the property’s entry experience and security standards up to date at significantly lower cost and disruption.
2
Took ownership of the server environment
We manage the supporting server environment that underpins the access control system, ensuring it stays stable, updated, and properly maintained on an ongoing basis.
3
Established semester-based user enrollment
With residents turning over every semester, we lead the user enrollment process each cycle — keeping onboarding simple, consistent, and off the plate of house staff.
4
Installed exterior security cameras
We added exterior cameras to improve property visibility and give the house director and organization better insight into activity around the building.
5
Trained the house director
Hands-on training ensured the house director could confidently manage and use the system day to day — without needing to call for help on routine tasks.
6
Improved Wi-Fi coverage across the house
We addressed connectivity gaps throughout the building, ensuring residents and staff had stronger, more reliable wireless coverage on every floor.
Our results
BIO
Biometric entry — no keys, no fobs
Residents enter using biometrics, eliminating lost keys and the security risk that comes with them. Entry is faster, more secure, and simpler to manage.
Retrofit over replacement
Modernizing the existing infrastructure rather than replacing it from scratch delivered a full upgrade at significantly lower cost and disruption.
Turnover handled every semester
Cameras around the property give the house director and the organization meaningful visibility into activity and a stronger deterrent at the perimeter.
Reliable Wi-Fi throughout
Coverage gaps across the building were resolved — residents and staff now have consistent, dependable wireless connectivity on every floor.
Director trained and confident
Hands-on training meant the house director left fully capable of managing the system day to day — no dependence on outside help for routine tasks.
This isn't a one-time project
Revive IT continues to manage the server environment and lead user enrollment every semester — keeping the system accurate, the infrastructure healthy, and turnover simple, year after year.
